We are proud of combining individual skills into a team effort and houses a unit of some of the most esteemed individual patent attorneys in Denmark. Our patent attorneys are backed by a qualified and certified very experienced patent administrator team working closely with both attorneys and clients to ensure the end goal of providing tailored and qualified service. We cover most areas of technology, but our main focus areas are biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, mechanics, and electronics.
The patent attorney team comprises European Patent Attorneys Mikkel Bender, Peter Kim Jensen, Steven Richard Kitchen, Jacob Meyland, Axel Heimann, Sylvia Yang, Rune Risgaard, Christian Espersen, Natalia Zakharova as well as patent attorney Sune Højfeldt.
What we do best
COPA Copenhagen Patents consistently aims at providing advice where quality is above all. We consider our combination of expertise and years of experience, our genuine interest in entrepreneurship and an approach not bound by convention to be unique on the Danish market.
We are especially experienced in handling oppositions and appeals, and team members frequently appear in proceedings before the European Patent Office on behalf of clients within the wind turbine industry and the pharmaceutical industry. Our key opposition and appeal specialists within mechanics and cleantech are Steven Richard Kitchen and Jacob Meyland, who regularly appear before these bodies, Steven building on experience from previous positions as patent director in a large Danish corporation.
In addition, we have advised client companies in several infringement and validity dispute cases before the Danish and Swedish courts, and Scandinavian litigation work has become something of a speciality for the firm. Mikkel Bender and Axel Heimann are highly recognised for their tactical skills and frequently advise on high-profile pharmaceutical cases in the Danish and Swedish courts.
With the team’s extensive experience in post-grant procedures both before the national courts of Europe and before the European Patent Office and the Boards of Appeal, we are looking forward to utilizing our experience and knowledge before the Unified Patent Court. In support of this effort, Mikkel Bender, Steven Richard Kitchen, Axel Heimann, Rune Risgaard, and soon Christian Espersen, Natalia Zakharova and Jacob Meyland, have obtained the necessary qualifications to appear before the Unified Patent Court as European Patent Litigators.
