AWA was founded in 1897 by Swedish engineer Anders Wilhelm Anderson. His initials form our company name and remind us of our proud history.

AWA Asia

Part of the AWA Group, AWA Asia supports and manages international clients’ IP needs throughout the region with a head office in Hong Kong – a location known for its successful business environment, world-class infrastructure and effective legal system.

Our Beijing office is our wholly owned licensed trademark agency, allowing us to file and enforce trademarks directlybefore the China Trademark Office and the administrative authorities, without the need to use local third-party agents.

Today, China is one of the largest IP markets in the world and is increasingly being selected as a key venue for IP litigation by foreign and local entities alike.

Our Patent team is divided into three main divisions: Electronics, Chemistry & Life Sciences, and Mechanics. Founded in 1994, Lung Tin Intellectual Property Agent Ltd. (“Lung Tin”), one of the first Chinese intellectual property firms approved by the government to represent international clients in China, is headquartered in Beijing with branch offices in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Xi'an, Shenyang, Xiamen, Tianjin, Chongqing, Foshan, Osaka, and New York. • In Nanjing Chia-Tai Tianqing Pharmaceutical (NJCTTQ) v Ecotrein, on behalf of NJCTTQ, Lung Tin requested the CNIPA to declare the patent of "novel sulfonamide compounds and their application as endothelin receptor antagonists" invalid. This case was selected by CNIPA as one of the "Top 10 cases of patent reexamination and invalidation in 2021" and listed as the first case.
• 2020 Typical Cases of the IP Court of the Supreme People's Court for its second anniversary: Appotronics Corporation Limited. v. Dehao Electron Technology Co., Ltd., a patent infringement dispute.
• In Balanced Body Inc. v. Yongkang Elina, Shanghai Pudong Court ruled in favor of Lung Tin’s client Balanced Body Inc. in a trademark civil litigation case. The case was selected as one of the Top 10 Supreme People’s Court IP Cases, one of the Top 10 Shanghai Courts IP Cases, and one of the Top 10 Shanghai Pudong New Area People’s Court IP Cases of 2019.
