MERH-IP is a mid-size law firm based in Munich, established as a small law firm of four patent attorneys with many years of experience, who were previously partners in three other law firms. Since our founding in 2009, we have grown into a medium-sized law firm with more than 60 employees including 6 partners, 15 patent attorneys and 9 technical experts.

The law firm sees itself as an “intellectual property boutique” specializing in the field of commercial legal protection. Our aim is to be a fast service provider in the field of commercial legal protection, where the quality of the work and a trusting client relationship come first.

Our range of services includes advice and representation in all matters of Intellectual Property including patents, utility models, trademarks, designs, domains, employee’s inventions, copyright and unfair competition law. The firm represents clients ranging from renowned multinational corporations from Europe, the United States and Japan, to medium-sized companies and start-ups.

Our professional understanding of servicing in the IP-field makes very high demands on the quality of our work in view of both technical and legal aspects. Expert knowledge in a broad range of cutting-edge technologies as well as in-depth expertise in intellectual property law with annual filings of around 2,400 patent applications enables us to safeguard your interests in the field of Intellectual Property and to represent any company successfully before courts and offices. Attorneys of our firm have outstanding track records in hearings, trials and oral proceedings.

In addition, partners of the firm are continuously involved in infringement proceedings, mostly in the field of telecommunication and automotive technology.

In total, dispute matters are about 20% of the firm’s work.

We are particularly known for our innovative and efficient strategies prosecuting applications and our above-average patent grant rate, also in technical areas where the rejection rate is usually very high, e.g. computer-implemented inventions.

The partnership of Viering, Jentschura & Partner (VJP) was founded in 1976 by Hans-Martin Viering and Rolf Jentschura. Both of our founding partners are still standing by our clients with words and deeds. Currently, Mr. Jentschura is managing and guiding the firm together with all other partners.

Experienced

More than 40 years later, VJP has become a worldwide operating patent and law firm with international experience. VJP has more than 20 partners and more than 180 highly qualified employees, including patent attorneys, attorneys-at-law, engineers and scientists. The partners of VJP have gathered expertise in the field of intellectual property for many years and worked in part as in-house attorneys. The headquarters of Viering, Jentschura & Partner mbB is located in Munich which is also where the firm was founded. The Bavarian metropolis is regarded as the European capital of patent law. This makes us benefit from proximity and close contacts to the German Patent and Trademark Office, the European Patent Office, the Federal Patent Court, and last but not least the Munich Patent Infringement Courts.
