As a member of our Intellectual Property group in Brussels, I have played a key part in Bird & Bird's handling of major IP disputes here in Belgium and internationally since 2007.
While the more technical IP rights, such as patents and know-how, has always been at the heart of my practice, I also promote the use of design and copyright laws and have helped our clients in banning copycats from the market. In addition, I have represented trade mark holders in opposition and infringement proceedings and helped our clients to recapture their legitimate domain names.
Working on behalf of cutting edge companies and inspiring individuals, I invest time to understand the technologies and businesses at hand, which goes hand in hand with Bird & Bird's sector approach.
After dozens of court cases, representing our clients before the courts and intellectual property offices in Belgium and abroad, I am well-versed in the procedural intricacies of IP litigation.
Contract drafting and negotiation is another inherent part of my practice; helping clients add value to their IP, negotiating safe passage to bring products to market, or finding constructive out-of-court solutions.
Over the years, I have written a number of articles on different IP topics and am an active member of the AIPPI where I am a permanent member of its design group and patent group. I am also a member of BMM, EPLAW and LES. I am fluent in Dutch, English and French and have a good understanding of German.
