Tomasz Gawliczek is an attorney-at-law, a chartered Polish patent and a trademark attorney as well as EUIPO professional representative. He specializes in contentious matters related to IP, especially regarding trademarks, industrial designs, and patents. Moreover, he also deals with trademark and industrial design prosecution before the Polish PTO, EUIPO, and WIPO.
As for his professional experience, Tomasz has successfully litigated before Polish national courts and General Court in Luxembourg in several precedent and complex cases concerning, e.g. gaming trademarks or three-dimensional trademarks. In addition to litigation, he also prepares comprehensive legal opinions and provides complex IP enforcement strategies, including computer programme protection. Tomasz is appreciated for his creativity and broad outlook on intellectual property protection, as well as for continuously improving his professional qualifications. In 2020, he completed postgraduate studies on “Patent litigation in Europe” conducted by Strasbourg University, which allowed him opportunity to acquire extensive knowledge of patent enforcement procedures in various European countries. Prior to that (in 2013), he completed a postgraduate degree in “Intellectual Property Law” at Jagiellonian University in Krakow.
Tomasz Gawliczek is an author of numerous press articles concerning intellectual property. He combines his professional attorney’s practice with academic experience gained earlier at the University of Wroclaw. In 2021, he successfully defended his doctoral thesis: “Trademark protection in Polish criminal economic law” and was awarded a PhD in Law. The thesis was subsequently awarded in a competition organized by the Polish Patent Office for the best IP research dissertations. His teaching experience makes him a recognised speaker at conferences and seminars on intellectual property law.
Tomasz is a lecturer at the Polish Chamber of Patent Attorneys where he conducts lectures on Polish criminal law (including IPRs criminal protection).
