Louise joined Zacco from a successful career at the Danish Patent and Trademark Office (DKPTO) where she was a Principal Legal Advisor, responsible for examining applications and taking decisions on oppositions and cancellations.

Her DKPTO work gives Louise extensive insight into much of the regulatory environment surrounding intellectual property. She was part of the NICE classification practice meetings with both the EUIPO and WIPO and was directly involved in the majority of the changes to practice that we have seen at the DKPTO in recent years. She assists clients with maintaining their portfolios, using her experience from the DKPTO to define her argumentation in oppositions and ensuring that her clients follow best practice in their applications. Her sharp legal mind and an eye for detail has been integral to helping clients in overcoming issues of distinctiveness, and her oversight of the decision making process has been recognised by colleagues and clients alike.

Her expertise in identifying the most practical route to success is based on the fact that she understands what a successful national and EU application should and should not look like. These talents complement her professional knowledge and natural creativity, ensuring she can deftly navigate the implications of pursuing new classes, exploring new markets and successfully securing a range of traditional and non-conventional marks.

Louise’s background at the DKPTO means that she has had exposure to trademarks across the whole cross section of branding rights and her current clients include some leading international names within the Engineering, Luxury Goods, Toys, Fashion and Jewellery sectors. She continues to work on cases involving rejections related to virtual goods listing, some of which are being used as a baseline for practice by PTOs.

Louise holds a Master of Law from the University of Copenhagen where she completed her studies in 2013.
