With retroactive effect from the beginning of the new year, Maiwald, one of
Germany's leading intellectual property law firms, has appointed Martina Boidol, Dr.
Anja Fux, and Sebastian Herzog as managing partners. This move strengthens the
firm's management structure and reflects its continued growth and increasing
technical and organizational complexity.

Martina Boidol, who has been a partner at Maiwald since 2023, has extensive
experience in the fields of digitalization, software, semiconductors, medical
technology, and process control. Her focus is on the implementation and application
of artificial intelligence, including at the interface with biotechnology. Martina Boidol
has particular expertise in strategic advice on filing strategies and portfolio
development. Her practice is characterized by a strategic approach that focuses on
the individual economic goals and needs of her clients. In addition, Martina Boidol
has many years of experience in patent grant proceedings and in the defense and
enforcement of intellectual property rights, including in the context of multinational
litigation.

Martina Boidol studied physics with a focus on semiconductor technology at the
Technical University of Munich. She was admitted as a European Patent Attorney in
2016, as a German patent attorney in 2021, and as a representative before the
Unified Patent Court (UPC) in 2023. Before joining Maiwald in 2021, she worked in
the research and development department of a large company in the field of mobile
security and secure devices and then spent several years at a leading IP law firm
advising European, American, and Asian companies of various sizes and strategic
orientations. Martina Boidol regularly appears as a speaker at client seminars and
public events, particularly on the topic of patent strategies in the fields of software
and artificial intelligence.

"We are delighted to welcome Martina to our circle of managing partners. With her
proven expertise in the implementation and application of artificial intelligence, she
brings key future skills to the firm and thus makes an important contribution to the
strategic development of our law firm," says Alexander Ortlieb, managing partner at
Maiwald.

Dr. Anja Fux, who joined Maiwald in 2020, has extensive experience in global patent
prosecution and portfolio management, including the drafting and prosecution of
patent applications and the defense and enforcement of patent rights. Anja Fux
specializes in all areas of biochemistry and chemistry, biotechnology, and
pharmaceuticals, including antibodies, small molecules, antibody-drug conjugates, T-cell receptors, personalized medicine, vaccines, and gene therapies, as well as
pharmaceutical formulations. She also prepares freedom-to-operate opinions and
infringement and validity opinions.

Anja Fux studied biochemistry at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) and
received her doctorate there in 2019 in the field of bioorganic chemistry. After
completing her training as a German and European patent attorney at Maiwald in
spring 2023, she spent several months at the US law firm Sterne, Kessler, Goldstein
& Fox in Washington, D.C., where she gained a wide range of insights into US patent
law. She passed the US Patent Bar Examination in September 2023 and, after
returning to Maiwald in 2024, was admitted as a European Patent Attorney, German
Patent Attorney, and representative before the Unified Patent Court (UPC). Anja Fux
regularly publishes on current patent law topics and speaks at international
conferences.

"We greatly appreciate Anja's exceptional talent and outstanding commitment, her
extensive knowledge and valuable international expertise, and we are delighted to
have her as a managing partner in our team in the future. With the appointment of
Anja and Martina as managing partners, we are also consistently pursuing our policy
of specifically promoting highly talented women at Maiwald, thereby setting an
example for balanced and future-oriented leadership," said Dr. Eva Ehlich, managing
partner at Maiwald.

Sebastian Herzog has been working as a patent attorney at Maiwald since 2018 and
became a partner in the firm in 2024. He has extensive experience in German,
European, and international intellectual property law, and advises clients on portfolio
management, obtaining and defending, as well as enforcing and challenging
intellectual property rights, in particular before the Unified Patent Court (UPC). His
practice focuses on electrical engineering, circuit electronics, communications and
information technology, and medical technology. He has a particular focus on the
growing fields of artificial intelligence and digitalization.

Sebastian Herzog studied electrical engineering and information technology at the
Technical University of Munich and then studied 'Law for Patent Attorneys' at the
FernUniversität Hagen until 2016. He was admitted as a European Patent Attorney
and German Patent Attorney in 2018 and was admitted to the UPC in 2023. Through
his many years at Maiwald, he has built up outstanding expertise in various technical
fields and advises a wide range of national and international clients.

"We are delighted that Sebastian is joining our team of partners and managing
directors. His particular expertise in the fields of artificial intelligence and digitalization
reflects Maiwald's clear focus on forward-looking technologies. We wish Sebastian all
the best in his new role," said Dr. Alexander Schmitz, managing partner at Maiwald.
