S&H Partners is a boutique law firm delivering end to end IP services to organisations from all sectors across both traditional and emerging fields of technology.
Many of our clients draw on our technical expertise to assist them throughout the innovation process. This includes IP strategy, portfolio consulting and management, and the development, protection and enforcement of their IP rights, both internationally and across India. Following our founding in 2018, we have continually strived to protect the innovations and intangible assets of our clients using a best practice approach to IP and a state-of the-art IP management platform, namely PATRICIA®, which forms the backbone of our practice and remains fundamental to achieving our quality objectives.
We serve as primary preferred agents and partners for many foreign law firms, assisting with various aspects of their IP protection in India. We also work with domestic clients, helping them to establish themselves across both India and expanding internationally, when required. Our most prominent clients are based in the fields of telecoms, automation, automotive, telematics, engineering, OEMs, semiconductors, medtech, sensors and control systems.
Our technical and legal proficiency enables us to provide quick and efficient solutions to many IP challenges and this forms a key part of our ability to empower our clients to effectively deal with the current global transformation of IP. We achieve this through a combination of regulatory expertise, technical knowledge and creative flexibility, whether helping to identify patentable features, commercial viability or developing an international enforcement strategy.
Our commitment to the advancement of IP is backed up by the fact that many of us regularly provide our time to supporting and mentoring both start-ups and incubators, helping them to develop a better understanding of how to protect their rights. This is something that, as a firm, we feel proud to be able to contribute. We sometimes find that investment at this stage can pay off over the longer term as start-ups often seek us out when they choose to begin the process of commercialising their ideas.
Aside from the standard Indian filings and prosecution, S&H Partners has developed a reputation in recent years for our ability to handle a wide range of outsourcing work from both global conglomerates and leading international law firms. This includes areas such as patent drafting, US prosecution, and search and illustration work. The wider team comprises of those able to handle both prosecution and drafting in the US, EP and China, and they are complemented by a focussed team of skilled paralegals, professional search and illustration experts, and a number of knowledgeable trademark and design practitioners. Our adherence to both local and global standards allows us to consistently add value to the portfolios of domestic and foreign clients, from seeking all possible protections for their ideas, to fostering an internal culture of innovation, to outsourcing the management and handling of their IP portfolio.
We continue to advise clients interested in pursuing or maintaining global portfolios to file in regions, such as the APAC, SARC, or Gulf countries, rather than arbitrarily filing in convention countries. This helps them avoid unnecessary filings in countries that provide little strategic value, or having to correspond with untested foreign associates for national phase filings. We have developed a business vertical that handles global portfolios and offers efficient and cost-effective foreign prosecution services.
In addition to patent portfolio management, we often advised product-based companies to file supporting design applications, resulting in comprehensive IP protection across all forms and in all possible ways. There has been significant interest shown in such advice, as filing design applications often results in a shorter processing time with the result that we can often anticipate quicker grant.
We are proud to work with companies who are developing the future and we remain committed to delivering expert advice and guidance.
