An experienced UK and European patent attorney, Ben specialises in developing and implementing commercially focused IP strategies, particularly for small and mid-sized companies.
Ben has extensive experience in IP due diligence for investors, patent drafting and prosecution, and opposition and appeal proceedings before the European Patent Office (EPO).
He also has experience managing large patent families, instructing prosecution across a range of foreign jurisdictions, and providing infringement and freedom-to-operate (FTO) advice.
Ben holds a first-class MEng in Materials Science with Nuclear Engineering and a PhD from the Centre for Nuclear Engineering (CNE) at Imperial College London, where he studied the properties and behaviour of structural materials for use in nuclear reactors and other high-irradiation environments. Following his PhD, he undertook a postdoctoral research placement at the CNE, funded in part by the National Nuclear Laboratory.
He joined the patent profession in 2016 and qualified as a UK and European patent attorney in 2022. He is also a European patent litigator with representation rights before the Unified Patent Court (UPC).
