Ms Sonnenhauser has been working in the field of intellectual property since 2005. She is admitted as a German and European Patent Attorney, and also as Representative before the Unified Patent Court (UPC). She has beenwith Prüfer & Partner since 2008 and is one of the Managing Partners of Prüfer.
She conducted her PhD at the Technische Universität in Munich, with a focus on regulation of the immune system.
Susanne Sonnenhauser’s technical expertise is in the field of pharma; life science; and biotechnology, in particular regarding active agents, pharmaceutical formulations, virology, genetic engineering, genetically modified microorganisms, DNA-related inventions and vaccines, therapeutic and diagnostic methods, medical products and devices, targeted drug delivery, and medical technology; and she has also gained vast experience in battery technology and the respective components.
In her work, she is mainly involved in patent prosecution (patent drafting, and examination proceedings), and also in post-grant proceedings such as opposition and appeal proceedings. Moreover, she prepares infringement- and validity- opinions, as well as freedom-to-operate (FTO)- analyses. Furthermore, in order to fit her clients’ needs, Susanne Sonnenhauser develops customized worldwide filing strategies with her clients, and she handles and coordinates worldwide patent prosecution. She can draw on a broad network of international colleagues.
Dr Sonnenhauser represents her clients before the German Patent and Trademark Office, the European Patent Office, the Federal Patent Court, the regional courts in Germany, and the Unified Patent Court.
