I am a European patent attorney specialising in the electronics, telecoms, and medical devices sectors, and head of the Simmons' UK Intellectual Property Group. I advise on a broad range of patent-related issues, including portfolio management, prosecution, exploitation, and litigation. Working closely with a broad range of clients I help them develop commercially valuable patent portfolios in an efficient manner.
As well as being a UK and European Patent attorney I hold a degree in Electronic Engineering and am a Chartered Engineer. I have first-hand knowledge of the telecoms sector having been a research engineer at a multinational telecommunications company for a number of years.
Working alongside our specialist team of IP solicitors I assist clients in all aspects of patent litigation, licensing, and exploitation, bringing a combination of expertise to every matter. Our team also draws on the expertise in the firm’s tax, commercial, and corporate departments to provide seamless service across all service-lines.
I have a strong knowledge of managing international patent portfolios; developing processes and strategies to make the most of jurisdiction-specific rules and procedures to achieve strong, valuable, protection while optimising cost and efficiency.
I lead an extensive European opposition portfolio and handle all aspects of challenging and defending patents including analysis, drafting, and advocacy. I have an enviable success rate at both defending and attacking patents.
Working alongside our litigation solicitors I have significant experience of international patent litigation, particularly in the telecommunications and medical devices fields where I have been a lead team member in global patent litigation.
