Simon’s practice encompasses a wide range of technologies within life sciences, biotechnology and medical devices and he represents clients from multi-nationals to universities and innovative spin-out companies.
Simon is particularly involved in formulating intellectual property (IP) strategies for start-ups, spin-outs and SMEs. He enjoys undertaking an in-depth analysis of business plans, budgets, exit strategies and current IP position and then clearly setting out patent filing programmes to maximise and extend patent protection, whilst also ensuring trouble free product launch or licensing by undertaking freedom to operate analysis. He handles due diligence for investors and has been involved with a number of company listings on the London Stock Exchange.
With previous in-house experience, Simon is able to provide an invaluable commercial perspective from which to provide clear and concise advice to his clients. Indeed, for many clients, he acts as their ‘in-house’ attorney and often attends board meetings and is involved as a key member of the team during commercial discussions.
