Cooley has represented Qualcomm in a long-running patent litigation campaign by ParkerVision against Qualcomm’s RF transceiver products. Additional patent litigation clients include Harpoon Therapeutics, Nintendo, Tesla, CSL Behring, DEI, Facebook and Liquidia.

Patent prosecution clients include 24M Technologies, ArQule, Black Diamond, Compass Pathways, Cyteir Therapeutics, Demetrix, Farapulse, Flexion Therapeutics, Frequency Therapeutics, Jazz Pharmaceuticals and JCyte Therapeutics, among others.

In 2021, the firm was shortlisted by Managing IP for three awards, including Patent Contentious Firm of the Year in the West.

Trade mark

The firm is handling a litigation for client 23andMe in a Northern District of California suit against Ancestry.com. The client is seeking to determine whether “ancestry” is a generic term. In addition, Cooley achieved a settlement for footwear company Allbirds in a federal trademark dispute with Giesswein Walkwaren. The Northern District of California suit involves Giesswein’s alleged unauthorized use of variations of Allbirds’ WOOL RUNNERS trademark. Other representations include Bumble, Spin Master, Google, SpaceX, ServiceNow and Tivity Health.

In 2021, the firm was shortlisted by Managing IP for the Trademark Contentious Firm of the Year in the West award.
