Dentons has an IP practice in the US, with recognised practitioners in jurisdictions such as Illinois, District of Columbia, Indiana, and New Jersey. New York-based transactional IP lawyer Monica Richman serves as the global chair of its IP practice.

In 2023, the firm's California practice lost a team of patent practitioners including partners Peter Yim, Christopher Eide, Brian Ho, Randy Omid, Michael Swett and Parker Kuhl to a rival firm. In June 2023, the firm lost global IP practice leader Song Jung and a team of 14 IP practitioners, including five partners, to Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner. In July 2023, the firm announced the hire of ITC litigator Michael Franzinger as a partner in its Washington, DC, office.
