Holland & Knight expanded its legal practice by combining with Thompson & Knight and Waller Lansden Dortch & Davis in August 2021 and March 2023 respectively. The merger expanded the firm's IP practice including in states such as Texas and Tennessee. Dallas-based Bruce S Sostek is one of the leaders in the practice.

A J Bahou and IP practice leader Blake Bernard left the firm’s Nashville office in 2023. In 2023, the firm strengthened its teams in Latin America with the addition of lawyers from Sánchez DeVanny in Mexico and combination with Cuberos Cortés Gutiérrez in Colombia.
