International law firm Rouse has offices in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, and branches in Cambodia and Myanmar. The firm’s intellectual property team provides a full range of IP services and solutions, from strategic consultancy to IP management, enforcement and commercialisation. Managing IP reported that a UK private equity firm bought a 35% stake in Rouse in July 2022.

Partner Chris Vale is a director and managing partner of Rouse Legal Vietnam. He advises on IP strategy in various industries, including technology, fast-moving consumer goods, automotives, pharmaceuticals and sports. Yen Vu is an executive and country manager of the firm’s business in Vietnam. She specialises in contentious and non-contentious IP matters, with a focus on protection, commercialisation and enforcement of trade marks, copyright, domain names in Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia. Partner Dung Vu leads the firm’s patent group.

The firm advised a leading Japanese multinational electronics company on patent infringement and successfully assisted the client to correct two patents before the Vietnam Intellectual Property Office. 

The firm's case studies include assisting a US financial services company to register key trade marks in Vietnam and acting for a Swedish watch brand in its appeal to overturn the refusal of a trade mark application. Principal Nguyen Hai Anh left firm in 2020, but the firm strengthened in 2021 by hiring four associates. Managing IP reported that a UK private equity firm bought a 35% stake in Rouse in July 2022. The firm later acquired European IP firm Valea in December 2022.
