Brenda is an IP attorney based in Harare, Zimbabwe. She founded an IP boutique firm in 2010 and has been dedicated to building and expanding that practice ever since. Brenda holds a Bachelor of Law Honours Degree (LLB) from the University of Zimbabwe and a Master’s in Intellectual Property Law (LLM) from the University of Turin in Italy, in collaboration with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
With extensive experience in commercial practice, Brenda has distinguished herself as a specialist in intellectual property law. She has advised and assisted both global and local companies with IP acquisition, prosecution, and strategy, and has resolved numerous IP disputes. A self-acclaimed advocate and champion of IP in Zimbabwe, Brenda has significantly contributed to the industry's growth and actively empowers start-ups through dedicated IP services and training.
Her passion for making a positive impact drives her to lead in various capacities. Brenda has held notable roles, including former President of the Zimbabwe Institute of Patents and Trademarks Agents (ZIPTA), former Councillor of the Law Society of Zimbabwe, and member of several boards. Currently, as Chairperson of the Africa Regional Intellectual Property Organization (ARIPO) Working Group, she is involved in amending the organization’s legal instruments and spearheading legislative reforms in Zimbabwe’s IP laws.
Brenda is also an active member of the International Trademarks Association (INTA) and has served on the committees for the “Unreal Campaign,” Brands for a Better Society, and the Global Advisory Council-Africa. Although she has received numerous accolades, Brenda prefers not to dwell on past accomplishments, focusing instead on her ongoing mission.
Describing herself as a driven, diligent, and focused visionary, Brenda is committed to becoming a leading IP attorney and expert in Africa. Her goal is to establish a prominent global legal services brand and to inspire and transform lives through her work, leaving the world a better place than she found it.
