Philipp is a distinguished patent litigator with more than 13 years of professional experience in intellectual property law. He has a proven track record of successfully representing clients in national patent infringement and nullity proceedings before German courts. In addition, Philipp is actively involved in patent nullity proceedings before the Federal Patent Court and the Federal Court of Justice, as well as in opposition proceedings before the European Patent Office (EPO). Since the opening of the Unified Patent Court (UPC), Philipp has been a registered representative and is actively engaged in numerous UPC proceedings. His expertise has earned him recognition in leading international patent rankings, including IAM Patent, Legal 500, and Leaders League. In 2025, he was recognized as “Patent Star” for Germany by IP Stars for the first time

Prior to joining HEUKING’s patent team, Philipp refined his skills in IP and patent litigation at renowned international law firms Noerr and Simmons & Simmons. He advises clients across a broad spectrum of technology sectors, such as mechanical engineering, electronics, and pharmaceuticals. His extensive industry knowledge enables him to deliver tailored advice and solutions that address the specific needs of each client.

Philipp has particular expertise in biosimilars, mechanical engineering, the automotive sector, and the enforcement of patents through preliminary measures. His daily practice frequently involves cross-border matters and close collaboration with patent experts from other jurisdictions, which is especially valuable in the context of UPC proceedings.

Since 2019, Philipp has held the title of Certified Specialist Lawyer in Intellectual Property Law (Fachanwalt für gewerblichen Rechtsschutz). He is also a regular author of legal texts and articles, contributing to various national and international publications in the field of intellectual property law, including a chapter on patent law aspects in the esteemed NOMOS handbook on artificial intelligence.
