Volker Mann regularly advises and assists domestic and foreign clients in application proceedings, opposition and appeal proceedings, nullity proceedings as well as intellectual property litigation and infringement proceedings. In addition, he supports contractual projects, in particular licensing and cooperation agreements.
He is also very familiar with the supervision of publicly funded projects, contracts with institutes and universities as well as employee invention law. Volker Mann also provides expert opinions on the validity and possible infringement of intellectual property rights (freedom-to-operate) and has experience in the assessment and valuation of intellectual property rights, know-how and related rights in acquisitions (IP due diligence).
Having handled patent litigations and contract projects in Germany and other relevant European countries, in the USA as well as in Japan, Dr. Mann has a good knowledge of the legal systems in these countries.
Dr. Volker Mann has twice been appointed by the Federal Ministry of Justice as a member of the examination board for German patent attorneys.
Dr. Volker Mann holds a degree in chemistry and completed his doctorate at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen with a dissertation on "Investigations on Pyridinium Cations".
He passed the examination to become a European Patent Attorney in 1980; Dr. Volker Mann has been a German Patent Attorney since 1983. He supplemented his training as a patent attorney with work with a U.S. patent attorney in New York in 1978. Before joining the firm, Dr. Mann worked for many years as an in-house patent attorney in large-scale chemical industry. From this time, he has in-depth experience in all areas of intellectual property law in Germany and abroad.
