Yukihiro Hotta is a partner and head of the Mechanical department at Kyowa Patent and Law Office.

After graduating from Osaka University, Yukihiro Hotta worked as an engineer for the Research and Development department of an aluminum processing company for four years. In 2002, he passed the Japan Patent Attorney examination for which he prepared while working for the Bureau of Transportation of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, in the Management Operations of Railway Facilities.

He joined Kyowa in 2003 and became a partner in 2015.

At Kyowa, he handles leading technologies like inventions related to AI-powered autonomous driving systems for adjusting the distance between vehicles when platooning or parking, miniaturization and weight reduction of motors for electric vehicles, assisted suits, and metal masks for semiconductors. His main areas of expertise are acquisition and maintenance of intellectual property rights both in Japan and abroad, as well as expert opinion and consulting with regard to patent rights both domestically and internationally.

From May 2023 to April 2025, he acted as a member of the standing committee of the Japan Patent Attorneys Association where he was involved in the design of intellectual property systems.
