MADRID, 5 February 2024 - The prestigious intellectual property protection firm ABG Intellectual Property has just opened an office in Valencia. This brings to four the number of offices of this company, which the Financial Times selects every year among the Leading Patent Law Firms in Europe and which recently celebrated its 20th anniversary.
“The Valencian Community is the fourth autonomous region in European patent applications, surpassing the national average in the innovation index prepared by the European Commission, and its companies exceed the average in terms of spending on innovation in relation to turnover. After Madrid, Barcelona and Bilbao, Valencia had to be our next destination,” said Juan Arias, managing partner of ABG IP.
The co-founder has also indicated that being closer to its clients and opening market in the area are the main reasons for this new milestone for the firm. Arias also explained that ABG IP is organised internally based on the services it provides to different sectors. According to him, this will also allow them to offer comprehensive and highly specialised advice in the Valencian Community both in the protection of R&D through patents, trademarks and other modalities, as well as in the defence of those intangible assets.
Jorge Ibor Millán, who is also a patent adviser in the firm’s Biotechnology & Life Sciences Department, and whose career includes his time at the European Patent Office, has been selected to lead the ABG IP office in Valencia.
“His ties to the region and his talent are what have led us to choose a young person like Jorge. We already tried this formula in Bilbao a decade ago and our presence in the Basque Country has been growing organically and sustainably ever since. Little by little we have been expanding the team and now we cover the whole territory. After the undoubted success, we believe that in Valencia, this is also the way forward,” explained Juan Arias.
The new ABG IP office in Valencia is already up and running at Avenida de las Cortes Valencianas, 39.
