Jan is part of our Life Science & Chemistry team, where he makes use of his technical expertise within the areas of chemistry and biotechnology, including pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, diagnostics, and human/animal nutrition. He works with patents in these areas in collaboration with international pharmaceutical companies, biotech companies, universities, and hospitals.

Jan has comprehensive experience working with all aspects of IPR, especially patentability assessments, drafting and prosecution of patent applications, freedom-to-operate analyses (FTO), oppositions and appeals at the European Patent Office (EPO), and litigation. He has specialised in filing and prosecution of Supplementary Protection Certificate (SPC) applications, particularly in Denmark and Norway.

During his years in research, Jan was the author or co-author of 13 research papers in renowned international chemistry journals and has performed studies of the synthesis and modifications of heterocyclic anti-cancer compounds and antibacterial peptides.

In addition to his qualification as a European Patent Attorney, Jan is a Qualified Patent Information Professional (QPIP) and is registered as representative before the Unified Patent Court (UPC). He is also a CEIPI tutor and frequently guest lectures in a patent course at the Danish Technical University. Among his most recent contributions to the patent literature is chapters on the Danish jurisdiction in ‘European SPCs Unravelled: A Practitioner’s guide to SPCs in Europe’ and ‘Antibody Patenting: A Practitioner's Guide to Drafting, Prosecution and Enforcement’.
