Dr. Alexander Schlotter is one of the founding partners of WALLINGER RICKER SCHLOTTER TOSTMANN. He holds a PhD in engineering and is admitted as German and European Patent Attorney since 2005 and 2004, respectively.
Dr. Schlotter studied mechanical engineering with specialization in theory and research at the Technische Universität München, where he completed his de-gree (“Dipl.-Ing.”) in 1997 with highest honors. During his studies, he gained further experience as a scientific assistant at various research departments, inter alia in mechanics, thermodynamics and cybernetics as well as at the neurological clinic of the Ludwig-Maximilian University Munich (Großhadern).
From 1997 through 2000, Dr. Schlotter collaborated with Prof. Pfeiffer as a re-search fellow at the Institute for Applied Mechanics at the Technical Universi-ty of Munich, receiving his PhD (“Dr.-Ing.”) with highest honors (summa cum laude) with his thesis work focused on the dynamics, control and optimization of a novel tele robot. During this period Dr. Schlotter founded his own engineering firm and worked, inter alia, on acoustic problems in automatic gears (in cooperation with Daimler-Chrysler), design of gear drives (in cooperation with Volkswagen) and vibrations in printing machines (in cooperation with MAN Roland, MAN Plamag).
Dr. Schlotter is active in the field of Intellectual Property since 2001, initially at a prestigious large Munich patent firm where he broadened his experience, inter alia, in medical technology before he started his own patent firm. In 2007 he co-founded WALLINGER RICKER SCHLOTTER TOSTMANN. Since 2009, Dr. Schlotter is a member of the examining committee for German patent attorneys.
In 2012 Dr. Schlotter was offered a Professorship for Intellectual Property Law by the University of Amberg-Weiden.
His day-to-day practice comprises, in particular, drafting, prosecuting and defending patents for his clients as well as attacking opponent’s patents before the German and European Patent Office and the German Federal Pat-ent Court. Dr. Schlotter further advices regularly on strategic IP aspects and represents his clients in lawsuits before German civil courts.
